Dr Emmaline was born and raised in the United States, where she completed a bachelor of arts degree in Biology from the prestigious Carleton College, graduating magna cum laude with distinction (1st class honours).
She then moved to Dublin, Ireland where she completed an honours degree in gradute-entry Medicine with University College Dublin School of Medicine and Medical Sciences.
She focused on extensive post-graduate training, including a Master of Surgery (Hons) with a research dissertation in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and a Professional Certificate in Clinical Dermatology from Charlies Institute of Dermatology at University College Dublin.
She has completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Therapies (Level 7) with Acquisition Aesthetics, the highest standard for training available in the UK. And finally, she holds Full Membership to the British College of Aesthetic Medicine, and is one of only a handful of clinicians in the UK to have achieved this by examination.
Emmaline is currently completing her Diploma in the History of Medicine with The Society of Apothecaries of London and her Diploma of Personal Care Formulation with the Institute of Personal Care Science, to officially become an cosmetic chemist.
In addition to this, she has completed several vocational qualifications to complement her practice, including a Level 4 Award in Laser and Light Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation from Cosmetic Courses.
Work.
Dr Emmaline spent her first years as a doctor in London, then subsequently worked as a clinical lecturer and tutor in surgery for the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. As an NHS clinician, Dr Emmaline has primarily worked in acute medicine, surgical specialties, and emergency medicine.
The culmination of this extensive education and training was starting her private aesthetics practice in Mayfair, London. She subsequently spent several years as a doctor of facial aesthetics in Edinburgh, before introducing medical services to a skin and laser clinic in the Cayman Islands, which subsequently won Gold Medal for the Best Medspa in the country each year she was there. Her years of experience have come together in the creation of calypsa, a cosmetic + skin clinic in the heart of Edinburgh.
Dr Emmaline is also the Head of Education and a Clinical Trainer for Acquisition Aesthetics, providing academic oversight for their postgraduate diploma in aesthetic medicine. Acquisition Aesthetics has won record-breaking consecutive awards for Independent Training Provider of the Year at the Aesthetics Awards. Finally, she serves as COO for Harley Supplies, the distribution arm of Acquisition Aesthetics.
Passion.
Dr Emmaline has a keen interest in lifestyle medicine: particularly food and nutrition. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance.
Emmaline is also an avid reader of books, and a writer and author. She has published two young adult novels at age 16. She has also written essays on education and literature, written chapters for medical textbooks, as well as regularly publishing research in peer-reviewed medical journals. She also acts as a media expert and has been featured frequently in the press and written for industry journals.
This love of writing has translated into The Aesthetics Edit, her educational platform.
